Curacorn®: An Innovative Solution for Foot Pain and Pressure Lesions

Foot pain, corns, calluses and fat pad atrophy are common conditions that can significantly affect daily life. Traditional podiatry treatments often involve regular debridement, padding or orthotics, which may only offer temporary relief.

Curacorn® is a revolutionary, minimally invasive treatment that provides long-lasting cushioning and protection for areas of the feet affected by pressure and friction.

What is Curacorn®?

Curacorn® is a podiatry-specific treatment that uses medical-grade hyaluronic acid (HA) gel injected into the foot to cushion and offload areas suffering from excessive pressure or fat pad loss.

Originally developed to support athletes such as footballers dealing with pressure lesions from tight footwear, Curacorn® has quickly become a widely used treatment for anyone experiencing discomfort or pain caused by high-pressure foot areas.

How Does Curacorn® Work?

The procedure involves injecting a high-viscosity hyaluronic acid filler into the foot—typically in the forefoot, heel or areas prone to corns or calluses. This gel forms a protective, cushioning layer between the skin and the underlying bone or joint, thereby reducing friction and distributing pressure more evenly.

Unlike facial fillers, the HA used in Curacorn® is much thicker and specifically formulated to withstand the high-pressure, weight-bearing environment of the foot.

Benefits include:

  • Immediate pressure relief
  • Corn removal/eradication
  • Significant pain reduction and time between appointments
  • Protection from further damage or lesion recurrence
  • Restoration of lost volume
  • Stimulation of collagen production
  • Moisture retention and tissue support

Results are often visible straight away and can last between 6 to 18 months, depending on your activity level and the severity of your condition.

What Can Curacorn® Help With?

Curacorn® is used to treat a variety of common foot conditions, including:

✅ Corns and Calluses

Curacorn® addresses the underlying pressure, helping to prevent the reformation of painful skin lesions.

✅ Fat Pad Atrophy

As we age, the natural cushioning in our feet diminishes. Curacorn® restores lost volume, relieving pain from direct bone-to-skin contact.

✅ Interdigital Corns

For corns that form between the toes, Curacorn® can relieve pressure caused by overlapping toes or tight footwear.

✅ Plantar Pressure Lesions

These occur when certain parts of the sole take on excessive pressure. Curacorn® helps redistribute this load, alleviating pain.

✅ Sports-Related Foot Pain

Ideal for athletes, runners or anyone on their feet for extended periods, Curacorn® reduces impact and pressure discomfort.

What to Expect During Treatment

The Curacorn® process generally includes three appointments:

  1. Free consultation
A discussion of what Curacorn® is, what to expect if you decide to go ahead with the treatment and a quotation of the costs. All corns are different and each person will require an approach tailored to them. This appointment is a free 15 minute no obligation appointment to see if the treatment is the right one for you.
  2. First appointment and Injection
A Full assessment is carried out by the podiatrist, including circulation and biomechanical assessment. Full documentation, pictures and consent will be gained. A local anaesthetic is applied, followed by a targeted injection of HA gel into the required areas.
  3. Follow-Up
Most corns require a minimum of 2-3 injections spaced out 2-4 weeks. A short follow-up will take place after the 2nd or 3rd injection to assess the treatment’s effectiveness and determine whether additional filler is needed.

After treatment, you’ll be advised to avoid pressure on the area for 24 hours (non-weight bearing for this time) and keep the foot dry. You can usually return to normal activities the following day.

Who Is Curacorn® Suitable For?

Curacorn® is a safe and effective treatment for most adults, but it may not be suitable for:

  • Those under the age of 18
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals
  • Patients on blood thinners or anticoagulant medication
  • Individuals with autoimmune conditions (e.g. Type 1 Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis)

Always consult with a HCPC-registered podiatrist trained in Curacorn® before beginning treatment.
