Reiki has its origins in Buddism and in the ancient methods of healing that developed in the far East. Reiki is a Japanese word. Rei (Ray) means Universal Spiritual Consciousness, and Ki (Key) means life force. In short Reiki means Universal Life Force.

The energy used in Reiki, or ‘Ki’ is also known as ‘Prana’ in Sanskrit, or ‘Chi’ in Chinese. You may have heard of acupuncturists using needles to balance ‘Chi’ in the energy channels (Meridians) of the body. Reiki is a non invasive method of healing. It has been described as intelligent energy, travelling to any source that needs healing. There is no massage or structural manipulation involved, and the client is fully clothed throughout this very gentle and relaxing treatment.

Reiki is about harmony and balance. The intent of a treatment is to improve the flow of energy through the body, creating balance on a physical level and on an emotional level, and to stimulate the body's healing mechanisms.

Reiki is also about achieving balance in all aspects of your life, from health to relationships to career achievements. Reiki will help to draw what is right for you and may help you to make decisions which change your life for the better.
